Community Engagement

Giving back to our community is an important value of Yama Projects. Not only to our local Port Stephens community but also to our Indigenous communities from our homeland, the Torres Strait.

Supporting sport far and wide. For the past 4 years we have been proud to sponsor the Magun Warriors Rugby League Football Club in the Torres Strait. In October 2023, the club entered into the Zenadth Kes Cup, a round-robin competition played over 4 days on Thursday Island. A total of 10 teams entered and Magun Warriors played 9 games in 4 days. Unfortunately they fell short in the grand final but we congratulate them on a very courageous effort by all involved.

Yama Projects has also partnered with local government agencies in the Torres Strait to help support communities throughout the region. The benefits are not limited to Rugby League as a sport, it helps individuals reconnect with the wider community. We support all discussions around health and well-being, domestic violence, community safety, and economic development.

Since 2020 Yama Projects has also been a proud sponsor of Nelson Bay Junior Rugby League. The Marlins are a wonderful Port Stephens community club that we have been privileged to become a part of.
